Hi, I'm Kheshwar!

I'm from Trinidad and Tobago (as you may have already guessed).

I was born and raised in Gasparillo (mid-southern part of Trinidad) and grew up in my 7- member family home.

I spent most of my childhood playing cricket on the street, riding my bike all over the village and making friends.

People at home often call me Kris. It`s like my nickname.

My home life is pretty chill. It's the island life after all. When explaining where I am from, I often tell people that I live where they vacation, which is true. Trinidad and Tobago has some amazing nature sights and unforgettable food to indulge in.

Some more about me

I got my first computer when I was 11 years old. I did not have internet, but I had my curiosity. That being said, I immediately broke the computer. It was unusable, but my curiosity (and fear of getting in trouble) pushed me to figure out how to fix it on my own. I learnt about computers on my own for more than 3 years until I finally was able to do IT in high school. By that time, I knew all the basics of computers and was ready to learn more. Eventually, I learnt how to program simple programs and slowly started to diagnose more advanced computer problems.

After high school, I went to the University of Trinidad and Tobago where I did my degree in Computer Engineering.

Afterwards I is when my life started to look repetitive. I started an IT job that saw me managing the POS (Point-of-Sale) systems that is used in grocery stores. Even though this was an essential job that got me through COVID, it was draining me mentally. The late nights, constantly being on call and having to word odd hours took its toll on me. After purchasing my car, I started to gain weight pretty quickly, something I struggled with for a while.

Eventually, I was retrenched from my position there and was free!..... for a month or so, after which I got a proper IT job. This job was vastly different and I was more in the office, overlooking a network and server infrastructure. This job was pretty chill as I got to do things on my time and was not hassled for work.

Things started to take a turn however when management changed and things began to start looking very different. At the same time, my view in my country started to change and I started to become uncomfortable. I was not growing.

I wanted to grow, expand, reach out and do something better. I decided to take a break from my IT career and hop on a plane to Japan (of all places) to teach English. And here I am, figuring out a new culture, language, way of life and living. All completely new to me. Scary and exciting at the same time, but one thing was for certain, I was growing.
